Stay out of the trough!

I am now resident in Banda Aceh!! I feel much better today - I've gone through a lot of time zones in the last week. Last night I slept in a big
comfy bed with air conditioning!

My house is beautiful! It's got huge high ceilings, ceramic floor throughout. It has room for 6 people - there are currently 3 full time people staying (including me) and 2 people on short term postings. There are staff that take care of the house and cook dinner for us. The only negative so far is the proximity of the mosque, this being negative only at 4:30 in the morning when the call to prayer goes out over the loud speaker! I've heard that you get used to this.

The news that you've all be waiting for is that there are no squat toilets in my house - sad, but true! We have showers in addition to the traditional trough filled with water, that you scoop out and throw over yourself.

Never get in the trough!
