Firsts
Govan has had many firsts in his life -
first birthday recently
first train trip to Niagara Falls
first plane trip to Ghana
first face plant learning to walk (and many more there after)
first robin-egg sized bump on the head (courtesy of Dan and a ill placed drum)
first foods
and now the first in-car puke
just as we got on the DVP bound for Montreal, Gov let lose a gusher.
We've learned a few things about humans from Gov - like, there are no stairs in the condo
but he managed to start going up them easily, so it's natural instinct we guess, similar movement as crawling I suppose.
But other things are learned behaviour, like not getting down head first off the bed when you want to get down
or staying away from the hot oven.
Apparently, you can add "not puking on yourself" and "leaning over when you puke to avoid puking on yourself" to the learned behaviours category.
It was hard not to laugh... watching as Govan just upchucked his stomach contents down his front. No attempt was made by him to avoid getting it all over himself. The parents however attempted a few maneuvers... once the laughter subsided...
contorting themselves, holding whatever was nearby to protect any dry spots on his closes or pulling off to the side of the DVP so that we could painstakingly remove him from the seat, run out in the freezing cold to get a change of clothes from the back, and then proceed to wipe down the car seat with baby butt wipes (wipes that were conveniently in the car as we ran out when in Ottawa recently, not because we are prepared for any of this stuff ever).
Gov seemed to be much better after that, and no ill effects were seen on the rest of the drive to Montreal, although we don't think he's quite over whatever it is...
But, for now, let's just say the rest of the drive was ...fragrant...
I guess the good news is ... he's ready for university anytime
