Good Morning, 2009!

Went to the World Jr Ice Hockey championships last night where Canada won it's fifth gold medal in a row versus Sweden. Great game, awesome atmosphere.

Today, Kelly was up early with Govan, and I woke up to this coming from the kitchen/hallway:

Let's

Play

HOCK-EEEEEE!

Let's

Play

HOCK-EEEEEE!

HOCK-EEEEE!!

Shoot the Puck!

SCORES!!

Dada? Dada?
Play Hockey?
Dada?

and thus I was found at 7am in the kitchen shooting a foam puck around.

When we went to the Sens-Leafs game a while ago, Govan was enjoying the game but everytime someone was body-checked, or they crashed the net, he would stick his hand out and scream/cry 'Nooo! Noo!' as if someone was getting hurt. After the better part of the first period explaining that the players wear equipment, and that the goalies job really is to make sure the puck actually hits him, he calmed down and enjoyed the crowd's cheering, etc.

He also had the uncanny ability to spot the Senators' Mascot wherever he was in the arena. Uncle Brendan had organized tickets about 7 rows back, and eventhough "Spartacat" was in the upper bowl, miles away, he'd spot him and pester you until you acknowledged that, yes, indeed, Spartacat, was way up there in the corner barely visible behind the stairwell.

But, from yells of 'Nooo! Nooo!', he now shoots the puck and then runs around before throwing his body at the kitchen cupboards as if throwing a body check.

Good times.
