Cambodia
Just back from Cambodia for our last R&R before the end of our contract. It was a good test to see if we wanted to travel again... our baggage certainly caught the travel bug - it went to Bangkok instead of Siem Reap. By the evening it had joined us at the hotel, and we had a good talk with it about the importance of staying with us when we travel, and we hope it won't go off on its own again.
Angkor Wat was great. Cambodia was great. Relaxing by the pool was great. Not thinking (too much) about work was great.
Lots of poverty though and young kids selling books, postcards and such everywhere you went, instead of being in school. One kid called Kelly a liar, and I made a little girl cry. Good times :(
Still, it's a little easier to deal with motorcycle taxi drivers yelling "Tuk-Tuk?" every 5 metres with a smile, than screaming Hello Mister! Difficult to disappear though and just be alone.
Other strangely exciting things we did:
Drank beer...
Drank beer in public!! With other people that were also drinking beer!! Crazy!!
Walked hand in hand ... in public!! Ridiculous -
Oh yeah, for those that reading since the old website postings back in the cycling round the world days.... Much like the Thais...Cambodians love Dan's beard.
Contract is done May 31...then it's a couple months of travel and touring bits of Indonesia (orang-utans, juice, beach, beer, beach, beer, beach, beer... well, you get the idea)
I took 200 photos in Cambodia...will try to get some more up over the next week (I mean, it's not like I'm going to be working anymore, right!)
